The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment Regulations 1992 came into force on 1st January 1993. These Regulations place an obligation upon an employer to assess the risks to the health and safety of his employees and others who may be required to use display screen equipment. The Regulations should not be read in isolations from other existing legislation. In cases where there is no specific legislation this may be covered under the generality of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 or more particularly under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1992 or the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992.
