amendment to current fire precautions legislation now means that many more places
of work will now have to carry out a fire risk assessment. These workplaces will
include those that had been previously exempted as follows: i) those covered by an existing fire certificate in force under the Fire Precautions Act 1971 ii) sports grounds with a current fire certificate iii) any premises to which the Fire Certificate (Special Premises) Regulations applied Failure to comply with the regulations which results in injury or death could lead to criminal prosecution instead of civil prosecution. The fire authority no longer have to give notice of intent before enforcement action is taken.
