| When a crane
or other equipment is hired, the hire-company has to provide a copy of the last
examination and or inspection of the equipment. The user of the equipment should
ensure that this evidence is available and has been provided. After installation of the equipment at the site where it is to be used a competent person should inspect it to ensure it is safe to use. The Hire Company will often carry out this inspection. It is recommended a certificate be obtained from the competent person to say that the equipment has been installed correctly and is safe to use. The user of the equipment has an obligation to use the equipment in a safe manner and to ensure that all-periodic inspection and maintenance are carried out whilst the equipment is under hire in accordance with these Regulations and the manufacturer recommendations.
