LOLER - Information and Records
All information concerning examination / inspection of equipment should be kept up to date. A copy of the current reports should be readily available to inspectors from the relevant enforcing authority. These reports may be kept electronically but should also provide a facility to make a hard copy available if required.

The information accompanying equipment needs to include details of;

  • The name and address of the duty holder for whom the thorough examination was made.
  • The address of the premises at which the thorough examination was made.
  • Sufficient information as to allow for proper identification of the equipment.
  • The date of the last thorough examination.
  • The date when the next thorough examination of the equipment is due.
  • The Safe Working Load (SWL) of the equipment.
  • Where applicable the SWL for each configuration of the equipment.

In general, this information should be stored on the premises where the lifting equipment is situated. In cases where this is not possible the reports can be stored elsewhere as long as they remain readily available.
