The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations came into force on the 5th December 1998. They were made under the Health and Safety Act 1974 and build on the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998. The Regulations cover all areas covered by previous lifting equipment legislation. LOLER now also covers some industries, which were not covered before such as the agricultural industry. Section Index
