Means of Escape in Case of Fire
Where people are at risk from a fire, it will be necessary that a safe route from their place of work is provided. If early fire detection is available and staff know what to do in the event of the alarm being raised, then normal ways in / out of the building may prove acceptable. In larger buildings additional escape routes may have to be provided. To help you decide if escape routes are satisfactory there are some basic rules to be remembered:-

Escape Routes - general

Escape routes - length and width

Fire Escape Times

Fire Exits and Fire Doors

Assembly Points

Fire Emergency Lighting

Fire Safety Signs

Provision of Fire Fighting Equipment
