Workplace Safety

Pic 1

It is the duty of an employer to ensure that safety in the workplace is maintained to a very high standard. Workplace safety is a top priority for many businesses, particularly those that operate in potentially dangerous industries. However, health and safety has to be carefully considered even in an environment that would not usually be considered dangerous, even an office.  For example, they are many potential hazards even in what may seem to be a very tame environment. If a work was to slip and fall on a piece of loose carpet down a flight of stairs then the company may be liable for this as they had not had the foresight to deal with the hazard presented by the loose carpet.

It is very important for businesses to ensure that all potential hazards are dealt with as the could stand to loose a lot of money if somebody where to take legal action after being involved in an accident the company was liable for. This is one of the main reasons that there is such a huge level of importance placed on health and safety in the workplace these days.

There is an even greater emphasis placed on the importance of health and safety in work place environments where there are very clear hazards. For example, many businesses that are involved in heavy industry where there are many dangers present to the workers will often have to place hundreds of special measures in place to ensure workers’ safety.
